Newsletter Number 1Dear Parents STAFFING –We welcome Mr Gallienne, Mrs Norman and Miss Moody to the staff. They are covering Mrs Le Prevost, Miss Friend and Mrs McKane who are on maternity leave. Our congratulations go to Mr and Mrs Le Prevost on the birth of Edward and to Mr and Mrs Watchman (Miss Le Cras) who married in the holidays. HEALTH AND SAFETY- Please remember to sign in and out if you are helping in school during school hours. Also if you take your child for an appointment and then return them to school, please ensure that Mrs Halliday or Mr Falla update the attendance records. Please be aware that all of the school sites, buildings, playgrounds and the field are no smoking areas. Dogs should not be brought on to school premises. e SAFETY – You will receive a separate letter inviting you to a meeting where internet safety will be discussed. ROAD SAFETY- You will probably be aware that all of the roads leading to both the Vale schools are 25mph speed limits. I would be grateful if you could observe these for the safety of all the children. Please also avoid parking on double yellow lines or where residents need to access their properties. I am aware of the congestion problems but there is no easy solution to suit everybody’s needs. LUNCHTIME AND SNACKS – We have several children in the school who have life-threatening allergies and special care is needed to enable them to enjoy school and access the same opportunities as their peers. In view of this please do not give your child any nut-containing or nut-related product (e.g. peanut butter sandwiches or Topic or Snickers bars) to bring into school, as any contact with these can be extremely dangerous for these children. Peanut extract is also used in many foods and so we discourage children from swapping snacks to prevent a possible allergic reaction. PUPIL INFORMATION – Shortly, parents in Years 4 and 5 will receive a sheet with the data that we have regarding your family. Please check it and return it to your child’s class teacher. If any information is incorrect, or has changed, please amend the sheet, or write the new information on an accompanying sheet. As always, please keep us informed of any change of information as soon as possible so that the data we hold is accurate. ABSENCES AND ILLNESSES – A reminder that if your child is absent from school and you have forgotten to let us know, we will contact you before 9.30am. This ensures that no child can be misplaced for very long. It will help us if you leave a message on the answerphone or by e mail to office@vale-jun.sch.gg or let Mrs Halliday or myself know before 9.30am if your child is not in school or has an a appointment that day. LIBRARY HELPERS – If you are able to help us in the school library for an hour or so each week, please contact Mrs Halliday. A short, basic training session is available to support this if required. COOP SHARE NUMBER - The school now has a Coop share number 101300. This is to support fund raising. We would be very grateful if, occasionally when shopping, you are able to use the school number instead of yours. PRAYER MEETINGS - Parents, Carers and pre-school children are all welcome to attend informal monthly meetings to support the general school needs of pupils, teachers and parents in prayer. The meetings this term will be held on 15 September, 13 October and 10 November. If you have an enquiry or prayer request, please phone Becky Hall on 246230. CLIMBING FRAME APPEAL – The Summer Raffle raised £5,740 and the total is now £16,410. Yours sincerely, N.J.Falla Headteacher
